Completion of an agricultural project in the province of Khentii

On 15 February 2019, Czech Ambassador to Mongolia, Jiri Brodsky, visited Khentii province, where he met with Governor Navaansamdan Ganbyamba, and together with him attended the ceremonial ending of the development project of the Czech non-profit organisation Charita, focused on the development of plant production.

The project, co-funded by the European Union and the Czech Development Agency, has been implemented in the last three years by Charitas together with the french organisation Geres and the National Association of Agricultural Cooperatives of Mongolia, Namac. Forty agronomists and local farmers from all districts of the Khentian province took part in it and more than thirty training courses on new growing practices, greenhouse use, water resources, seed selection, and farm business management were carried out. The Khentii province, where 70,900 inhabitants live, has the prerequisites for the development of crop production, and the implemented project has greatly supported rural development through its own agricultural activities, participation in decision-making processes and cooperation with farmers and state authorities.

The ambassador discussed with the Governer in Chinggis city about business opportunities for Czech companies, in the fields of agriculture, energy and tourism, and informed him about the business mission from the Czech Republic to Mongolia, prepared for June this year.
