Awards for Prague Zoo

On 1 October, a conference was held in Ulaanbaatar to mark the 25th Anniversary of the return of the Przewalski’s horse to Mongolia. Prague Zoo has extraordinary contribution to this project.

During the evening ceremony, Mongolian Ministry of the Environment and Tourism awarded Director of Prague Zoo Mr. Miroslav Bobek, recognizing invaluable activities of the Prague Zoo within the framework of the Return of Wild Horses project. In his speech, Mr. Bobek reminded that the Prague Zoo has been keeping the Przewalski’s horses for 85 years and has brought twenty-seven horses to Mongolia so far. In addition to transports, the Prague Zoo helps to improve the working conditions and environment of the rangers of the Gobi B Specially Protected Area and, for example, has participated in the development of a drinking water well within Czech Development Cooperation. Another award from Mongolian Ministry of the Environment and Tourism for the Czech Airforce was received by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Mongolia Mr. Jiří Brodský, who commented on the long-term cooperation of Czech entities with Mongolian environmental partners, and promised that the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Mongolia will continue supporting the return of the wild horses project actively.

On Sunday, October 1, a meeting with the rangers of Gobi A zone was held at the Ambassador's residence, during which Director of the Prague Zoo handed over a motorcycle as gift.
