The grandmother from the ice tells about the relationships between people of three generations in one family. Winter hardening in the Vltava River, which was also performed by the lead actors during the filming, has a significant place in the story. The film won the Czech Lion for best film, direction, screenplay (Bohdan Sláma), male acting in the lead role (Pavel Nový), female acting in the lead role (Zuzana Kronerová) and supporting role (Petra Špalková).
