Deputy Minister Smolek’s visit to Mongolia

Mr. Martin Smolek, Deputy Minister in charge of Legal and Consular Section and Mr. David Nový, Head of the Visa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic paid a visit to Mongolia in order to participate in the third consular consultative meeting between Mongolia and the Czech Republic.
 

Deputy Minister Smolek had meetings with Damdinii Tsogtbaatar, Foreign Minister of Mongolia, Damdinsurengiin Davaasuren, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lkhanjaviin Munkhtushig, Director of the Consular Department and representatives in charge of territories and authorities of the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Ministry of Road and Transport Development, and National Police Agency.

Besides the regular exchange of statistics on visa, the discussion topics of the meeting included amendments and revision to Czech and Mongolian legislation on visa and consular issues, as well as evaluation of cooperation on short-term visa issuance through VFS Global Visa center, and sharing experience of the recently launched program to employ specialized personnel in charge of receiving and producing applications for long-term residence permit which is issued based on employment card. The progress made in the area of ​​contract following the signing of five social, security, cultural and educational agreements was also assessed, with an emphasis on assessing the possibility of further expanding the contractual base and taking steps to further improve visa and consular practices, including police cooperation. Furthermore, the two sides assessed the measures included in the five bilateral agreements in social, security, cultural, and educational fields that were established not long ago and talked about the actions to take in order to enhance their visa and consular practices.

Within the frame of the visit, the Czech representatives had a tour of the VFS Global Visa Center and premises of the Czech Embassy which was expanded many times and renovated for the purpose of smooth operation of the Visa and Consular Section.

At the end of the visit, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs M. Smolek opened a reception at the premises of the Embassy attended by more than 200 guests including Foreign Minister and Health Minister of Mongolia on the occasion of the Czech National Day and the 30th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution.
