Ambassador Marie Chatardová delivered a speech on Covid-19 impact on attaining the SDG 16

The Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the Marie Chatardová participated in the videoconference organized by the Sixteen Plus Forum and the Permanent Mission of Costa Rica to the UN in New York on January 28, 2020, where she delivered a speech on Covid-19 pandemic impact on attaining the SDG 16. The videoconference was organized in the run-up to the upcoming annual meeting of the Sixteen Plus Form “Sixteen Plus Annual Showcase”, which will take place later on this year in Costa Rica.

The Czech Republic is a member of the Sixteen Plus Forum together with other 11 UN member states, G7+ and the World Federation of UN Associations (WFUNA). The two-day videoconference concentrated on specific steps for building peaceful, just, and inclusive societies and the importance of SDG 16 for the solutions of the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. The conference also discussed the issue of decreasing trust in public institutions, delivering the message on SDG 16 implementation in the context of national voluntary reviews and the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on access to justice, especially for marginalized groups.
