Through its five key pillars: digital technologies, climate change and energy, transport, health, education and research, the Global Gateway strategy supports development of reliable and sustainable connectivity and infrastructure in partner countries and contributes to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement. The EU also supports the upcoming UN Transforming Education Summit to be held in September 2022, that should promote an accelerated transformation of education systems as part of the Covid-19 recovery. The side event was opened by H.E. Ms. Jutta Urpilainen, European Commissioner for International Partnerships, and H.E. Ms. Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations. The side event was an opportunity for the representatives of the UN system, Ministers of Education from Finland and Sierra Leone as well as youth representatives to share their views. The side event was closed by Ms. Daniela Grabmüllerová, Deputy Minister of Regional Development, on behalf of the CZ PRES.
