Czech Republic chairing the UN Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation in New York

Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic, Marie Chatardová, chaired the fourth Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development Goals (STI Forum), which took place May 14-15, 2019 in New York. The forum was attended by a thousand of representatives of member states, non-governmental organizations, private sector and academia. Thanks to the live stream of the event the impact has been ever greater than before.

Numerous side-events are part of the annual Forum and the Czech Republic co-organized an event on the role of upbringing and education in fostering science, technology and innovations. Czech Republic was represented by the President of Council for Sciences of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Antonín Fejfar, who presented the innovation strategy “Czech Republic, the Country for the Future”.

The results of the fourth STI Forum will serve as an important input for the July session of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), which will evaluate the progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
