Global Solutions Summit 2019 has commenced at the UN HQ in New York

Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the United Nations, Marie Chatardová opened the one-day Global Solutions Summit on Monday, May 13, 2019.

This meeting is organized by the Global Solutions Initiative (GSI), which is seated in Berlin. Its mission is to propose solutions to the largest global problems, which are discussed at the G-20, G-7 and other intergovernmental meetings. Its recommendations are based on studies published by established scientific institutions, which are prepared through a dialogue between leaders of private and public sectors.

This year’s meeting is tackling three main themes.

  1. Support for individual agricultural farms (Smallhoders Farms). There are around 500 million of these around the world and they provide living for 2 billion out of 7.6 billion people.
  2. Support for research and development transfer to end users (“Building the Local Deployment Ecosystem”).
  3. Evaluation of the role of governments, private sector, financial institutions and non-governmental organizations in transferring the scientific research and knowledge to the public.

Global Solutions Summit is in its second year and it is organized right before the Science, Technology and Innovations Forum (STI).
