Humanitarian Agenda

Plenary Humanitarian resolutions were discussed on 6 December 2022, under the agenda item 69 of the GA Strengthening of the coordination of humanitarian and disaster relief assistance of the United Nations, including special economic assistance. All four resolutions under this agenda item were adopted by consensus, three of which were co-sponsored by Czechia. Two resolutions were tabled and introduced by Czechia due to its EU presidency, namely Safety and security of humanitarian personnel and protection of United Nations personnel and Assistance to the Palestinian people.

In addition, the Czech Republic co-sponsored, together with all other EU Member States, the resolution on Strengthening of the coordination of emergency humanitarian assistance of the United Nations submitted by Sweden. The fourth resolution discussed was International cooperation on humanitarian assistance in the field of natural disasters, from relief to development. Czechia, under its EU Presidency, delivered a joint EU statement on the item 69(d) Strengthening of international cooperation and coordination of efforts to study, mitigate and minimize the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. As part of this item, the SG Report on the lasting legacy of the Chernobyl disaster was presented.

The humanitarian agenda is also part of the work of the Second and Third Committees of the GA.
