The virus is quickly spreading also to the most vulnerable areas, which cannot fight it without the help of the international community. United Nations has in this regard announced the Global Humanitarian Response Plan for COVID-19.

Secretary General of the United Nations also called for an immediate global ceasefire. Now, we all have a common enemy in the coronavirus.

Cooperation between the UN and the most advanced countries in the world is essential in the coronavirus fight. Secretary General in this regard also called for united G-20 front in order to develop a fast, coordinated response to the global crisis. He presented a three-point Action Plan concerning the suppression of transmission of the virus, the socio-economic impact of the crisis and common effort to rebuild. Common rules are not enough for the current unprecedented situation and the scope of the action must correspond with the severity of the crisis.

The United Nations has adopted and continues to adopt a number of measures in order to preserve the main functions of the organization. Legal and technical solutions are being developed to enable virtual meetings of the critical UN bodies. The work of the UN Headquarters in New York, and other UN locations, is not currently interrupted. The decisions in critical areas such as humanitarian relief or the work of UN missions are still being adopted.

The permanent missions of member states also adopted a number of extraordinary measures. The Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the United Nations has also implemented several exceptional measures to ensure its full operations and representation of the Czech Republic.
