Symbolic signing of the UN Charter

Based on the initiative of the 73rd President of the UN General Assembly, representative of all current 193 member states symbolically signed the UN Charter on June 26, 2019 in New York.

The original UN Charter was signed on June 26, 1945 in San Francisco by representatives of 50 countries and entered into force after ratification by all five permanent members of the Security Council on October 24, 1945. Czechoslovakia was among the original signatories.

Based on the initiative of the 73rd President of the UN General Assembly, representative of all current 193 member states symbolically signed the UN Charter on June 26, 2019 in New York. This ceremonial act marked the beginning of celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the UN, which will culminate late next year.

The UN Charter was symbolically signed by Mr. Karel Komárek, Chargé d’affaires a.i. of the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the UN.
