The Czech Republic is eighth in the world in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals

In the annual rankings of SDG Index, the Czech Republic ranked 8th out of 166 measured countries. It was ranked best in combating poverty (SDG 1), clean water and sanitation (SDG 6) and decent work and economic growth (SDG 8).

The index further shows that the Czech Republic will face substantial headwinds in the future in implementing SDG 13 (climate action) and SDG 17 (partnership for the goals). In total the Czech Republic is implementing the SDGs at 80.6%.

Scandinavian countries traditionally ranked the best, with Sweden on top implementing 84.7% of the SDGs followed by Denmark and Finland. The ranking reveals that most of the top 20 countries belong to the OECD. The report also assesses the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the implementation of the SDGs and reactions of the governments to the public health crisis. The entire report for 2020 is available on SDG Index website.
