(This article expired 30.09.2022.)

On 26 August 2020, Ambassador Vít Korselt attended the inauguration of the reconstruction of the railway bridge over the Neris River in Jonava.

One of the most important railway bridges in Lithuania will be reconstructed by joint Czech (EUROVIA CS, a. s.), Lithuanian (EUROVIA Lietuva) and Latvian (AS "LNK Industries") forces.
The aim of the project is to increase the capacity of the bridge as an important strategic part of Corridor IX B connecting the port of Klaipeda with the Lithuanian capital Vilnius. After the reconstruction, passenger trains will be able to run on the bridge at speeds of up to 120 km/h and freight at up to 90 km/h.

The reconstruction should be completed by September 2022. The total costs will reach EUR 12.5 million.
