Czech Foreign Minister on a visit to Lithuania

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jakub Kulhánek paid a visit to Lithuania from 6 to 7 September 2021, accompanied by a business delegation. In Vilnius, he met with the Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, Prime Minister and Speaker of Parliament. During the visit, he also met with the Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Cichanauska and visited Czech soldiers at the military base in Rukla.

As a part of the meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart, J. Kulhánek signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the allocation of financial support to Lithuania worth EUR 530 000 to manage the illegal migration orchestrated by Belarus. Minister Kulhánek also discussed border protection and cooperation between the two countries in other areas during his meetings with Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte and Speaker of the Parliament Viktoria Cmilyte - Nielsen.

During his stay in Lithuania, J. Kulhánek opened a business forum, which was attended by 11 Czech companies and organized in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vilnius, the Czech Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Lithuanian Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Crafts.

At the end of the official visit, the Minister laid a wreath at the Memorial to the victims of the struggle for freedom in the Antakalnis Cemetery in Vilnius and visited Czech soldiers at the military base in Rukla.
