New Ambassador of the Czech Republic presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Lithuania

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Lithuania, Vít Korselt, handed over his credentials to the President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalie Grybauskaité on 15 October 2018 at the ceremony.

The handing over of the letters was preceded by the courtesy reception of the Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Deputy Minister Albinas Zananavičius, European Union Director Jolanta Balciuniene and Director of State and Diplomatic Protocol Division Neilas Tankevičius. Both parties agreed that the relationship is at a very good level, without any controversial momentum and with the potential for further development in the future. The positions of both countries are in many respects similar and identical, and they are united in support for the EU and transatlantic orientation. Lithuania commends the Czech contribution to the region's security by actively engaging in NATO's enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) battalion and involvement in Baltic Air Policing, and is interested in strengthening security and defense cooperation, including fighting cyber threats, fostering cooperation between the countries of Visegrad and the Nordic countries, within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, etc. On the bilateral level, the promotion of economic cooperation, the continuation of very good relations at the working level between the two ministries of foreign affairs, the other ministries, the parliament, as well as in the field of culture, education or science and technology should continue and develop.
