On 13^th of January, Czech citizens in Lithuania were electing the head of state in the third direct presidential election. This day we have started the day by lighting candles in the embassy’s windows to remember the victims of January 13, 1991. On this this day in 1991, the Soviet troops supported by tanks seizing the television tower in Vilnius attacked those people who had been trying to prevent the occupation of the tower. 14 civilians were killed, and several hundred people were injured.
