On July 24-30 in Anykščiai, Žagare, Plunge, Garliava and Prienai the audience will be invited to see the exclusive performance The Lion’s Den performed by artists from the Czech Republic Sabina Bočková and Johana Pocková.
In the electrifying duet The Lion’s Den Sabina Bočková and Johana Pocková push the boundaries between entertainment and perversity. Under the atmospheric live music by Lukáš Palán, the two performers embody a fierce array of cultural figures and references taken from mass media. From manipulating the audience to self-manipulation, they shift from the roles of leaders to victims.
The Lion’s Den, which started as a performative research on media and political populism’s manipulative powers, has become an emotionally charged performance. Playing with meaning with the audience’s complicity, Bočková and Pocková fall into a symbolic lion’s den, opening an abyss of uncertainty.
