EMERGENCY SITUATON: Conditions for entry to the Czech Republic valid from December 18, 2020

As of 18 December 2020 the Ministry of Health Protective Measure regarding the entry of persons on the territory of the Czech Republic (pdf, 91 kB) will be updated.

The Ministry of Health Protective Measure has been updated with new validity from December 18th until further notice. In case of arrivals from the countries that are not on the list of the countries with a low risk of COVID-19 transmission, a negative PCR test result needs to be submitted to the respective regional hygienic station. Conditions for entry valid from 18 December are here (pdf, 338 kB)

It is now possible to travel to the Czech Republic only for essential reasons. It is not possible to travel to the Czech Republic for the purpose of tourism or visiting friends. Restrictions include a closure of hotels and accommodation facilities for touristic purposes, limiting the group size in public spaces to a maximum of six people. A curfew has been imposed from 23:00 till 4:59. This decision does not affect cross-border workers in any new way.

Persons, who arrive in the Czech Republic for essential reasons should remember to abide strictly by the quarantine obligations after the entry to the territory of the Czech Republic. It is obligatory to fill in the
electronic Public Health Passenger Locator Form before the arrival in the Czech Republic and undergo an RT-PCR test upon arrival in the Czech Republic. People, who decide to undergo the RT-PCR test in an EU country, should do so immediately before departure.

A mechanism for evaluation of epidemiological situation of individual EU Member State is a novelty. Based on established criteria the list of countries with a low risk of COVID-19 incidents is updated regularly.

Red (UK) – travellers from these countries (both foreign nationals and Czech citizens) must fill in the Public Health Passenger Locator Form prior to entry to the Czech Republic and undergo the PCR test or quarantine after the entry.

Orange – travellers from these countries may enter without the obligation to fill in the Public Health Passenger Locator Form. Those foreign nationals travelling to the Czech Republic for the work or study purpose are be obliged to submit a negative PCR test result prior to entry to workplace or an educational institution in the Czech Republic. This applies only to foreign nationals.

Green – travellers from these countries (both foreign nationals and Czech citizens) may enter without the obligation to fill in the Public Health Passenger Locator Form and without the obligation to undergo the PCR test or quarantine.

All countries that are not included in the list shall be automatically considered to be red countries (including the countries outside of the EU).

Citizens of third countries, meaning of countries outside of the EU+, continue to be banned from entry to the territory of the Czech Republic, apart from the listed exceptions, in accordance with the EU coordinated approach. Conditions for entry and categories of persons that are eligible to entry are regulated by the new Protective Measure. The conditions for entry are found at the MoI website. All exceptions to the obligations are described in the Ministry of Health Protective Measure.

CAUTION: The Crisis Measure restricting free movement of persons in the territory of the Czech Republic is in force and therefore besides the abovementioned conditions it is possible to travel to the Czech Republic only in absolutely necessary cases. This applies likewise to arrivals from green countries. All persons entering the Czech Republic must observe the rules of free movement restrictions.
