The Czech Republic introduces the electronic motorway vignettes

From January 1, 2021, the Czech Republic will adopt a system of electronic motorway vignettes, which will replace the existing physical coupons placed on the windshield of the vehicle. Sales of the e-vignettes for 2021 will begin on December 1, 2020. The prices and conditions remain unchanged.

The drivers have the option to buy an e-vignette valid for 10 days (for 310 CZK), for one month (for 440 CZK) or for one year (for 1,500 CZK). When it comes to the one-year e-vignette, its validity is newly set to 365 days from the date of purchase, not to the calendar year as before.

In addition to the official e-shop, the e-vignettes will also be available at Czech Post branches, EuroOil petrol stations and through special self-service stands near the state border.

When purchasing, it is necessary to pay increased attention when entering the vehicle details - after the purchase is complete, it will not be possible to make any changes to the entered data. More information on the electronic vignettes is available here.

Reduces fares apply in case of ecologically-powered vehicles. For vehicles powered by natural gas and bio methane, a 50% discount applies - 155 CZK (10 days) , 220 CZK (one month) or 750 CZK (one year).

Electric cars, hybrid cars and hydrogen powered cars are exempted from the fee, given that the value of emitted emissions does not exceed 50 g CO2 / km.

If such a vehicle is assigned a special registration plate, it is automatically exempted. If it uses a standard plate, it is necessary to apply for exemption from the fee using a special form, which can be downloaded here.

Historic vehicles and vehicles carrying selected groups of people are also exempt from the fee, details can be found here.
