The new deputy foreign minister for European issues

On December 3, 2018,  Mr. Aleš Chmelař was appointed the new deputy foreign minister for European issues based on the result of the selection procedure.

From June 2017 and prior to his appointment as the deputy foreign minister for European issues, Mr. Aleš Chmelař (*1987) worked as the State Secretary for the European Affairs in the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic (Úřad vlády). Prior to joining the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, Aleš Chmelař worked as a researcher in the field of financial markets at the Center for European Policy Studies (CEPS), the largest and oldest think-tank in Brussels. He joined the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic in 2014  and started working as the chief European analyst and the Head of EU Economic Policy Coordination Department.

He speaks English, French and German fluently.
