About the Film:
In 1968, disgraced Australian Olympian Ron Clarke (James Frecheville, ANIMAL KINGDOM) escaped to Prague to seek guidance from his eccentric mentor Emil Zátopek (Václav Neužil), a record-breaking champion runner. As Zátopek imparts his wisdom, the story flashes back to his humble beginnings and follows his career as he broke Olympic barriers on the way to becoming the greatest Czech athlete of all time. But as important as Zátopek's victories on the track is his relationship with fellow Olympian and javelin thrower Dana Zátopková (Martha Issová, THE ZOOKEEPER'S WIFE). David Ondříček's (IN THE SHADOW) handsome, captivating biopic is a rousing winner. Audience Award Winner, 2021 Karlovy Vary Film Festival. DIR/SCR/PROD David Ondříček; SCR Alice Nellis, Jan P. Muchow; PROD Kryštof Mucha. Czech Republic/Slovak Republic/Germany/Finland, 2021, color, 131 min. In English and Czech with English subtitles. NOT RATED ~AFI Silver Theatre
