MORE ABOUT THE BAND:
Please The Trees received the Czech Grammy for Best Alternative Record in 2012 for their third album A Forest Affair (Starcastic Records), recorded in California and produced by Jonathan Burnside. In 2015, they garnered the APOLLO—Czech Critics’ Choice Music Award—for their fourth album Carp, which they recorded with Chris Koltay at High Bias Recordings in Detroit, during their self-organized US tour. The band has toured throughout the US, UK, Europe, and Israel.

Frontman Václav Havelka III, originally from the forests of a mountainous region in East Bohemia, has been one of the most active figures on Prague’s independent music scene. He has not only performed with Please The Trees, but as a solo artist. He has written music for several theatre productions, including a staged version of Lars von Trier’s Dogville at the Estates Theater in Prague. He additionally wrote the score for the motion picture Mista (with David Boulter of Tindersticks) and hosts his own show on Radio Wave.

BEYOND THE MUSIC

Please The Trees’ planting trees project
After spending time with a gardener friend in New York (who has been secretly planting trees around town), the band is inspired and starts planting a tree in every city where they perform. Each tree planting is photographed and documented, then posted on Facebook profile of the project. Until today, the band has planted 276 trees around the world.
