An Evening with Czech Fulbright Scholars

The Embassy of the Czech Republic presents a special Czech Fulbright Night with scholars Eva Janská, Martin Jirušek, and Jiří Pánek, who will each give a 10-minute presentation on their research, followed by a Q&A and networking reception on February 3, 2022, at 6 pm.

About the Scholars:

Eva Janská, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at Charles University in the Department of Social Geography and Regional Development. Her work focuses on international migration and migration policy. She was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at George Washington University in Washington, DC, for the 2020/21 academic year. She received a grant for her project, “New Czech Immigrants in the United States: Homeland Engagement and Host-society Integration.” Additionally, she researches the Czech community in the United States for the project www.cestikrajane.cz.

Martin Jirušek, Ph.D., works as Assistant Professor at Masaryk University, Czech Republic. In his work, Martin focuses on energy security in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), geopolitics, and the transatlantic dimension of energy security. He is also Managing Editor of the Czech Journal of Political Science. Martin has conducted several research projects in Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, and the United States and is currently a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the George Washington University in Washington, DC, for the 2021/22 academic year.

Jiří Pánek, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at Palacky University Olomouc. He studied geography, geoinformatics and development studies in Olomouc (CZ) as well as Hyderabad (India). His research is focused on participatory urban planning while using modern technologies. Prior his Fulbright stay at North Carolina State University, he did his research at the University of South Africa (Johannesburg) and University of Pittsburgh (Ruth Crawford Mitchell Fellowship).
