Classical Duo: Marek Švejkar & Lenka Korbelová

In a special concert leading up to Czech National Day, the Embassy of the Czech Republic will present the classical duo Marek Švejkar (clarinet) and Lenka Korbelová (piano) on October 21, 2019, at 6 pm. For the last nine years, the duo has performed a wide range of classical music from the Baroque era to the present. The concert will include works by Bohuslav Martinů, Zdeněk Fibich, LuigiBassi, and Charles-Maria Widow. Enjoy an evening of classical music at the Czech Embassy.
About the Duo: 

About the Duo: 
Marek Švejkar is a student at the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris and a member of the Academy of Chamber Music in Prague. He also graduated from the Prague Conservatory and the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris. He has won many competitions including: International Woodwind Competition (PL) (2012) – 1st prize; Concorso Internazionale per Clarinetto Bari (IT) “Saverio Mercadante” (2012) – 1st prize; Concorso Internazionale per Clarinetto Breno (IT) (2013) – 2nd prize, to mention a few. In 2013, he was nominated to participate at the Eurovision Young Musicians Contest where he garnered third place. In January 2014, he performed as a soloist with the Czech Philharmonic orchestra conducted by Jiří Bělohlávek in the series of “Play with the Czech Philharmonic” concerts.

Lenka Korbelová studied piano at the Conservatory in Teplice, the Music Academy of the Performing Arts in Prague and the Academy "Incontri col Maestro" in Imola, Italy. She received 2nd prize at the International Bedřich Smetana Competition (2010), 2nd prize at the Brno Piano Competition (2011) for her interpretation of Martinů, as well as honorable mention at the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation Piano Competition (2011) for the best interpretation of a composition by Martinů. She has played a range of major piano concertos by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Tchaikovsky and Dvořák with several renowned orchestras.

Embassy Security Policy: For entrance, all guests will be subject to security screening. Photo ID is required and must match RSVP confirmation for each individual. No admittance will be permitted without proper registration. Bags and suitcases are not allowed. Only small purses are permitted but must be opened for inspection. Coat check is not available.     

Parking: Non-metered parking is available on Spring of Freedom Street and Tilden Street.

Closest Metro: The Embassy is about a 15-20 minute walk from the Van Ness Metro Station.
