Czech Youth Choir Permoník

The Embassy of the Czech Republic presents the Czech youth choir Permoník on March 30, 2022, at 6:30 pm. The mixed-youth choir, comprised of approximately 45 students around the age of 16, will perform beloved songs such as Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World, Urbánek’s Perfect Day, as well as repertoire from their recent performance at Carnegie Hall, including Zdeněk Lukáš’ Oj, oj, oj, Jan Vičar’s Gorale, and Antonín Dvořák’s Going Home. Join us for an unforgettable night of music with young stars from the Czech Republic.  

About the Choir: Permoník, originally founded in 1966, is currently under the direction of Choirmaster Martina Juríková and Executive President Petr Kazík. The purpose of the choir is to bring arts, joy, and heart to audiences at home and abroad. They have performed throughout the world in such countries as Japan, China, Australia, Greece, and the United States. In regards to their outstanding reputation, the choir garnered the golden award at both the New York Sound of Spring International Music Festival (2016) and the Busan Choral Festival and Competition in South Korea (2014). They also won the title of absolute winners at the New York Choral Festival (2013) and the Australian International Music Festival in Sydney (2011). During its existence, the choir has recorded over a dozen CDs of both Czech and international music.
