Exhibition Opening: Purely Prague

The exhibition "Purely Prague" reveals a look inside the Czech capital through the lens of American photographer Lillis Werder. The photographs highlight the beauty and everyday life on the streets of the majestic city.

About the Artist:           
Lillis Werder, born and raised in Fort Scott, Kansas, is a fine art, portrait, and event photographer, who graduated from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service and had a long career at IBM before turning to her creative side. Now, her business, Lillis Photography (www.lillisphotography.com), services the Washington, DC metropolitan area. She exhibits her work in multiple art galleries and juried art shows in the DC and Richmond areas. Often photographing world leaders, Lillis is the primary photographer for the nonprofit organization American Friends of the Czech Republic (AFoCR), whose mission is to promote ties and relations between the United States and the Czech Republic. Her most recent fine art awards include first round winner in US entries for ART 2015 Olympia in Tokyo, juried by the curator of the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA; winner of multiple awards from The Art League; Honorable Mention in FotoWeekDC 2015; among others.

Her images have been featured worldwide in newspapers, magazines, books, catalogs, calendars and postcards. Lillis is a Getty Images photographer and has sold over 35,000 images online as stock photography. Moreover, Lillis’ photography is showcased year-round at the Art League in Alexandria located in the Torpedo Factory, and she exhibits in the F11 Women’s Photography Collective throughout Washington, DC’s various art venues. Her images have been highlighted on websites such as National Geographic, RedBook Magazine, The Lancet, AFoCR.org, and publications including the Washington PostManassas Journal MessengerElan MagazineCzech & Slovak Leaders Magazine, Czech newspapers, the AFoCR Newsletter, and numerous local business brochures. She has self-published over 20 photography books (www.blurb.com) and prints of her images are available online at imagekind.com and amazon.com, and as wall murals at the large retailer Restoration Hardware. She also recently photographed the Woodrow Wilson house interior in its entirety for a coffee table book on US Presidents’ homes at Christmas. Lillis is a licensee for the Seattle, Washington Art Consultant company Grand Image where she sells her images to the healthcare and hospitality industries. She is currently represented by Andrew Chasen at Chasen Galleries, Richmond, VA.
