Festival Launch: Grand Slam Party

The Embassy of the Czech Republic serves up an evening of 80s and 90s music, featuring DJ Tom from Prague on September 8, at 7 pm. The event launches the Mutual Inspirations Festival 2016 - Martina Navrátilová, honoring the best tennis player of all time, among men and women, with 59 Grand Slam titles and record 9 Wimbledon singles championships. Step into your whitest party dress and get ready to groove with DJ Tom from Prague!  

About the DJ:  DJ Tom From Prague has been spinning tracks since 2006. His diverse music style ranges from his favorite 80s era t mashups and hous music. His specialty is his feel for music composition an mixing. Tom has played at many cubs and events around DC. His greatest honor has been to work with DC's LGBT community and the Embassy of the Czech Republic on several electronic dance events with amazing lighting effects.

Embassy policy: No bags or suitcases allowed. Only small purses permitted but will be checked at the door. No coat check available. You must pass through security for entrance. RSVP confirmation and photo ID required.

Parking: Non-metered parking is available on Spring of Freedom Street and Tilden Street.

Closest Metro: The Embassy is about a 15-20 minute walk from the Van Ness Metro Station.

The Mutual Inspirations Festival (MIF) is an annual initiative spearheaded by the Embassy of the Czech Republic, focusing on the mutual inspirations between Czech and American cultures and featuring each year an extraordinary Czech personality who has greatly influenced and inspired others through his or her work. Now in its seventh year, the festival celebrates the Czech-American tennis legend, Martina Navrátilová, who took women’s tennis to another level and inspired the world with her unsurpassed records.  Beyond her revered statistics, Martina is a proponent of numerous issues dear to her and her resolve to live a candor life of integrity. She has become an inspirational leader to rising stars, women, breast cancer patients, and minorities and is a fierce advocate for human rights, healthy living and animals.
