In this classic film, a dentist (Zdeněk Svěrák) strives to find meaning in his life. He desires a son, a peaceful life away from modernization, but his wife does not share his dream. When a young apprentice takes an interest in him, will she change her tune?

Synopsis:
Dr. Burda thirsts to live a peaceful life free from industrialization. He wants a son, to live in his cottage in the woods. Meanwhile, his wife Blanka does not see herself changing "nappies." A computer programmer, she strives to be part of the technological boom and sees computers as a way of advancing her career. When his wife's computer assistant Tereza shows an interest in him, change may be on the horizon.
About the Director:
Vít Olmer (born in 1942) is a Czech actor, screenwriter, director and writer. He began his acting career at the Most Theater, and graduated from the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts (DAMU). He then went on to study film directing at the Film and Television Academy of the Performing Arts (FAMU). He directed the Czech TV series Arabela and The Flying Cestmir (Létající Čestmír), and the film Boys Will Be Boys (Páni kluci ), among others.

About the Series:
This marks the fourth year of the Film and Beer Series at Bistro Bohem. The series this year focuses on the work of acclaimed screenwriter and actor Zdeněk Svěrák, who is renowned for the Oscar-winning film Kolya. All of the films will screen in Czech with English subtitles. Each screening includes one free beer as well as an introduction by a representative from the Czech Embassy. All screenings are subject to change. The screenings take place the third Tuesday of every month.
