The National Gallery of Art will screen "Such is Life" (Takový je život), a portrait of working-class Prague, on October 21, 2017, at 2 pm. The film follows the tragic story of a woman, overwhelmed by everyday life and her abusive alcoholic husband.
This psychological drama utilizes the power of close-ups and montage to draw in viewers. (Dir. Carl Junghans, 1929, 63 min., silent with English intertitles)
