Holocaust Remembrance Day - Performing Captivity and Beyond

The Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Embassy of Israel commemorate יום השואה - Holocaust Remembrance Day through the theatrical presentation, "Performing Captivity and Beyond: Songs and Sketches from Terezín," a staged reading of sketches and cabaret songs written in Terezín from Lisa Peschel's anthology Performing Captivity, Performing Escape and other sources, produced by Untitled Theater Company #61 and directed by Edward Einhorn, on April 16, 2015, at 7 pm.

The program begins with a short discussion about the artists in Terezín, after which the company will present the following sketches and songs: Terezín March by Karel Švenk; Radio Show by Felix Prokeš, Vítězslav "Pidla" Horpatzky, Pavel Stránský, and Kurt Egerer; Ich glaub' ich bin nicht ganz normal - Terezín parody by Hans Hofer; Laugh With Us by Felix Prokeš, Vítězslav Horpatzky, Pavel Weisskopf, and Pavel Stránský; When the Rain Comes Down by Ilse Weber; New Year's Eve by Lisa Zeckendorf-Kutzinski; Als ob lyrics by Leo Strauss; The Smoke of Home by Zdeněk Eliáš and Jiří Stein; The Insult—But Unintended by unknown author; The Bad Old Days in Terezín – music and lyrics by Felix Prokeš.  The performance features Craig Anderson, Jason Liebman, Jenny Lee Mitchell, Eric Oleson, and Patrick Pizzolorusso, with Maria Dessena on the piano.
