Kids Euro Festival: Recycled Butterflies Workshop

Date: 17 October 2020 - 29 November 2020, Venue: Online!

In line with the EU theme of environmental sustainability, the Embassy of the Czech Republic presents a virtual workshop with the acclaimed artist Veronika Richterova who creates much of her art from old plastic, giving a new life to what we consider “garbage”.

Through various methods of cutting, heating and assemblage she builds colorfully translucent forms of objects and forms of life around us, from crocodiles to chandelier light fixtures to plants. Her obsession with things plastic doesn’t stop at creating artwork only, she has also collected several thousand different PET plastic bottles from much of the world for a Museum she is preparing, and writes about the history of usage of plastic objects that are so omnipresent in our lives.

In this creative workshop, she will teach children how to turn discarded plastic bottles into beautiful butterflies.
