Lecture: Zlín Animation

Animation opens the door to the realm of fantasy and possibilities. What may seem impossible becomes reality with the vision of an imaginative creator. Lukáš Gregor, head of the Department of Animation at Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Czech Republic, presents an intimate look inside the animator’s studio. He will showcase a colorful selection of student animated exercises and films on November 8, 2018, at 6 pm, at the Embassy of the Czech Republic. Journey into the fascinating world of animation with us at the Czech Embassy.

About the lecturer:    
Lukáš Gregor received his master’s degree in the Theory and History of Dramatic Art from Palacký University and his Ph.D. in Multimedia and Design from Tomas Bata University. Since 2013, he has been the head of Department of Animation. Also, he serves as a dramaturg for Czech Television. Previously, he was the head of the Department of Theoretical Studies at Tomas Bata University. He has presented numerous lecture on animation, served as editor, film and theater reviewer, and film teacher. He has been member of the State Cinematography Fund and a member of the Board of Animated Movies since 2017.

Embassy Security Policy: For entrance, all guests will be subject to security screening. Photo ID is required and must match RSVP confirmation for each individual. No admittance will be permitted without proper registration. Bags and suitcase are not allowed. Only small purses are permitted but must be opened for inspection. Coat check is not available.     

Parking: Non-metered parking is available on Spring of Freedom Street and Tilden Street.

Closest Metro: The Embassy is about a 15-20 minute walk from the Van Ness Metro Station.
