Mountaineering Day

The European Union National Institutes of Culture in Washington, DC (EUNIC DC), presents Mountaineering Day at the Embassy of the Czech Republic on September 24, 2022, from 10 am to 2 pm.

Enjoy a day of “mountaineering through Europe,” while in the heart of Washington, DC. All ages are welcome!

Conquer the climbing wall then relax with a cold brew while listening to the folk band Orchester Praževica. Highlights will include a raptor demonstration by Master Class Falconer and Director of the West Virginia Raptor Center, Collin Waybright, and a dog presentation by Expert Trainer Marie Donahue, who works with German Shepherds bred from Czech bloodlines at Rodina Straze.

Take part in a mapping and sustainability challenge. Delve into how the EU is combating climate change and preserving nature. Learn about top athletes and companies related to mountaineering from EU countries. Try making a tasty trail mix and sample delicious “mountain cuisine” with a demo by Italian Chef Roberto Donna. Check out alpine destinations to visit and more. Enjoy a day of “mountaineering through Europe,” while in the heart of Washington, DC.

Parking: Non-metered parking is available on Spring of Freedom Street and Tilden Street.

Closest Metro: The Embassy is about a 15-20 minute walk from the Van Ness Metro Station.
