Piano Concert: Tomáš Víšek

The Embassy of the Czech Republic will present a special concert featuring Czech pianist Tomáš Víšek performing the works of composers Dvořák, Martinů, and Ježek on December 15, 2021, at 6 pm.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic will present a special concert featuring Czech pianist Tomáš Víšek performing the works of composers Dvořák, Martinů, and Ježek on December 15, 2021, at 6 pm.

The concert celebrates the lives of Czech President Václav Havel (10th anniversary of his passing), classical composer Antonín Dvořák (180th birth anniversary), and jazz composer Jaroslav Ježek (upcoming 80th anniversary of his passing).

The program includes Ježek's music for the Liberated Theatre such as Bugatti Step, Dance of the Marionette, and Isabel-Valse. Víšek will also perform Dvořák's Suite in A major, op. 98, Martinů's Polka in D, among others. Savor the works of these musical geniuses beautifully rendered on piano by the internationally-acclaimed artist.

About the pianist:

Tomáš Víšek (1957 ) studied piano at the Prague Conservatory under professors Valentina Kameníková and Zdeněk Kožina. He then went on to study at the Academy of Arts in Prague under professors Josef Páleníček and Zdeněk Jílek. In 2017, he obtained his Ph.D. at Charles University in Prague (dissertation "Attraction and Problems of the Antonín Dvořák´s Piano Works").

Víšek has received numerous awards for his piano performances. Most recently, he garnered1st prize at the video competition Golden Classical Music Awards(2021). In 2016, he won 1st prize at the International Master Competition for Music Teachers in Warsaw. He obtained 1st prize at the competition Music Without Limits in Lithuania (2015) and 1st prize at the competition Grand Prize Virtuoso. In 2013, he won 1st prize+CMF Prix at the Concours Musical de France in Paris. These are just a few of his many achievements on piano.
