Refugee issues have existed across time and location. This presentation focuses on refugees in Czechoslovakia in the 20th century. Scholar Michal Frankl will discuss Czechoslovakia’s pre-WWII refugees (centered around 1938), the story of sealed borders, anti-Semitic refugee policies, and anti-Jewish revision of citizenship.  Scholar Kateřina Králová will focus on post-WWII Greek refugees in Czechoslovakia. Both scholars are Fellows through January 2016 at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies, of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM). Well-known columnist Amy Kaslow is a White House appointee to the governing board of the USHMM, where she chairs the Collections and Acquisitions Committee.
