Swinging to Freedom: Pilsner Jazz Band

Date: 27 January 2020 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Venue: Kennedy Center Millennium Stage

The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage will present the Pilsner Jazz Band, in collaboration with the City of Pilsen and the Embassy of the Czech Republic, on Jan. 27, 2020, at 6 pm.

American forces liberated the city of Pilsen in today’s Czech Republic in 1945. Ending WWII, the troops brought not only freedom but also American swing music to the people. With immense gratitude, the Pilsner Jazz Band is ready to take the stage to mark the 75th anniversary of liberation and cultural inspiration. The orchestra will feature a classic repertoire by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Glenn Miller as well as Czechoslovak swing pieces.

List of performers:
Anna Moriová - vocals, alto saxophone
Jindřich Jindřich - trombone, band leader
Jiří Kodajek - trumpet
Jaroslav Kanta - tenor saxophone
