Czech Christmas Market 2015

(This article expired 09.12.2022.)

On December 5, 2015, the Czech Embassy organized a traditional Czech Christmas Market.

The Czech Christmas Market featured beautiful hand-blown glass ornaments, exquisite handcrafted glass, Czech Christmas cookies and mulled wine. Featured companies included Glassor, Topix Crystal Art, and Bistro Bohem. Over 700 people attended the event.

The event is a favorite of Washingtonians who come every year to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere with their children and friends. Proceeds from the event will be donated to support Czech language education, lessons in history, traditions, music and folklore in Washington, DC.

Glassor s. r. o. is based in the Czech Republic, where the tradition of glass making goes all the way back to the 13th century.  The glass produced is known as Bohemian glass or Bohemian crystal. The Czech company is dedicated to the design, production, and manufacturing of handcrafted glass ornaments. All of the ornaments are designed in-house, hand-blown and hand-painted―producing some of the finest glass ornaments in the world.

Topix Crystal Art is a distributer of fine Bohemian crystal imported from the Czech Republic. Each piece is mouth blown, handcrafted, cut and painted by the most skilled crystal makers, following traditions dating back to the eleventh century. The pieces reflect both classical glassmaking techniques and the latest sophisticated manufacturing process. Topix has a wide selection of exquisite pieces, ranging from traditional tableware to chandeliers and other one-of-a-kind works of art.

Bistro Bohem is a Washington, DC based restaurant serving flavorful Central European cuisine in a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere. During the Czech Christmas Market, they offered a selection of Czech Christmas cookies, egg-nog, and organic herbal teas at the event.
