Minister Petříček gave a keynote address at the annual CEPA Forum.  In his remarks the Minister talked about the development of the Czech democracy since 1989 and the relations of Europe and the United States after the year 1989. “The partnership of Europe and the USA is based on common values. Let’s speak more about what connects us rather than what divides us,” the Minister said in his speech.  

Minister Petříček also participated in a panel discussion with his V4 partners Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, František Ružička, State Secretary of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia and Marcin Przydacz, Undersecretary of State for Eastern Policy, Economic Diplomacy, and Development Cooperation for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland on the unfinished business of 1989 and strengthening transatlantic relations.

During his visit to Washington, Minister Petříček gave an interview to Voice of America, covering issues from climate change, energy security, to relations with Russia and situation in Ukraine.

In Miami at Florida International University, minister joined the launch of Initiative for Democratic and Economic Alternatives (IDEAs) for Cuba, which is a part of the Vaclav Havel Program on Human Rights & Democracy at FIU. Minister Petříček met with representatives of Cuban opposition and Martin Palouš, director of the Havel program at FIU.  

Minister Petříček concluded his visit to the United States with a meeting with Florida economic development organizations The Miami-Dade Beacon Council and Enterprise Florida and met Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart.
