Czech Ambassador Accepts the CTA Innovation Champion Award

The Czech Republic has been selected as a top-tier country for nurturing innovation by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which is a proponent of innovation and standards and trade organization for the consumer technology industry in the United States. Ambassador of the Czech Republic Hynek Kmoníček accepted the Innovation Champion Award from CTA’s President and CEO Gary Shapiro during the Digital Patriots Dinner in Washington, DC, on April 17, 2018.

In his acceptance speech before an amused and captivated audience, the Czech Ambassador explained his take on the Czech soul, "Czechs are born innovators. As most of us have totally unpronounceable names for any foreigner, any time you call us it is already a piece of innovation... Be it in nanotechnology, cyber security, or pharmacy, come visit us and see for yourself! The CTA will have its next European meeting in Prague sometime during the next year."

The Award was bestowed upon the Czech Republic for earning status in CTA’s International Innovation Scorecard, which grades 38 countries and the European Union across 12 categories including whether governments welcome disruptive technologies, their tax systems, quality of environment and broadband speed and cost. The Czech Republic was among 12 other countries to win the recognition this year.
