Czech Aerospace Conference 2015

The Embassy of the Czech Republic and CzechInvest organized an aerospace industry conference as part of the Embassy’s economic diplomacy in Washington, DC, on May 13.

The conference introduced the engineering and production capabilities of Czech aerospace and aviation companies and placed such businesses in direct contact with US partners. Offering opening remarks, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Jan Hamáček welcomed guests from both the American and Czech aerospace industries and emphasized the need to create deeper Czech-American collaboration in the most demanding fields which require high quality and innovative products and have high added value, a source of prosperity and means for further development. Ambassador of the Czech Republic Petr Gandalovič placed the event into the broader frame of the Embassy’s economic diplomacy. Next, the representatives of the General Aviation Manufacturing Association and Aerospace Industries Association focused on the aviation industry in the US.

Moderated by the Head of the Economic Section from the Czech Embassy, Tomáš Hart, the conference was comprised of two parts. The first part included presentations by US aviation investors in the Czech Republic, which included Honeywell (consisting of 4,000 employees in the cities of Brno, Ostrava, and Olomouc), Bell Helicopter, and GE Aviation. CzechInvest’s CEO Karel Kučera spoke highly of these companies’ investments. The second part entailed presentations by Czech companies Aero Vodochody (the largest producer of aerospace technology in the Czech Republic), Frentech, PBS Velká Bíteš, and Ray Service. Lastly, the Confederation of the Czech Aviation Industry, the Association of Aerospace Manufacturers of the Czech Republic, the Moravian Aerospace Cluster, and the Czech Space Alliance were also presented.
