Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mládek visits the USA

Minister Mládek met with the US administration to discuss further developments in economic cooperation and transatlantic relations. He discussed collaboration with representatives of the US Department of Energy, agreeing that teams from both countries will meet in the near future to go into more detail. He sat down with Assistant United States Trade Representative for Europe and the Middle East at the Office of the United States Trade Representative, Dan Mullaney, regarding the current status of the negotiations on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).

 

At the Atlantic Council, he spoke about the current economic situation in the Czech Republic and the government’s priorities. He focused on the development of the Czech energy sector, the situation in Ukraine, and the need for energy security.

 

Minister Jan Mládek met with the authors of the World Bank’s publication “Doing Business in…” and discussed their views on the economic policies of the Czech Republic aimed at improving the business environment.  As part of his program, he also sat down with significant US investors regarding their further investments in the Czech Republic as well as representatives of important US corporations at the Business Council for International Understanding.

 

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, the Czech Embassy in cooperation with CzechInvest and the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York organized an aerospace industry conference, which took place in Washington on May 13 and in New York on May 14. Several prestigious Czech companies such as Aero Vodochody (the largest producer of aerospace technology in the Czech Republic), Frentech, PBS Velká Bíteš, and Ray Service participated. The Confederation of the Czech Aviation Industry, the Association of Aerospace Manufacturers of the Czech Republic, the Moravian Aerospace Cluster, and the Czech Space Alliance also presented at the conference.
