Consular Services

Authentication and Notarization services

The Consular Section of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Yangon provides following notarization and authentication services for use in the Czech Republic: signature authentication, true copy authentication and superlegalization.

Signature authentication (notarization)

Purpose: To officially confirm that a signature on a document belongs to the person who has signed it. On some specific documents, such as various declarations or powers of attorney, this official confirmation is required in order for the document to be considered legally valid by the Czech authorities and serve its intended legal purpose.

Requirements: personal appearance, a valid identification document (Czech citizens must present their Czech passport or občanský průkaz, foreign nationals present their passport;), document that is to be signed (must be in Czech or English; blank page may not be notarized); fee - equivalent of 250 CZK in Myanmar Kyats (only cash is accepted).

Additional notes: A consular signature authentication conveys no judgement on the part of the authentication officer as to the validity or truth of an authenticated document. Only a signature, not the contents, is authenticated. Applicants do not need to sign the document in front of the authenticating official; their acknowledgement of a previously made signature suffices, both options are possible.

Translation authentication: Embassy of the Czech Republic in Yangon does NOT provide translation/interpretation services.

Should you need any document to be translated to (or from) the Czech language, please use a commercial service. Following link to the Chamber of Court Appointed Interpreters and Translators of the Czech Republic (KST ČR) might be useful (https://www.kstcr.cz/en/kst-cr). A search engine you will find here (https://www.kstcr.cz/en).

An official certified translation will contain interpreter's and translator's clause (https://www.kstcr.cz/en/professional-information-interpreter-s-and-translator-s-clause) and interpreter’s and translator’s seal (https://www.kstcr.cz/en/professional-information-interpreter-s-and-translator-s-seal) and will be delivered by postal/courier service.

 True copy authentication

Purpose: When presenting copies of certain documents, official confirmation certifying the identical content is sometimes required in order for the copy to serve the same legal purpose as the original document.

Requirements: the original document, its copy, fee - equivalent of 300 CZK in Myanmar Kyats (only cash is accepted).

Additional notes: It is not possible to authenticate any proof of identification (such as passports, ID cards, driver’s licenses etc.), bankbooks, cheques, tickets, and coupons, geometric or technical designs. We will also not certify a copy of an original document that violates the Czech legislation or has modifications that could impair its credibility.

 Superlegalization

Purpose: The official documents issued in Myanmar do not have any legal relevance in the Czech Republic unless they are authenticated (superlegalized) by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Yangon.

Requirements: Myanmar official document affixed with legalization stamp by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar (this legalization confirms to us that the document is authentic and that it has been issued by a competent authority and signed by a competent clerk), fee - equivalent of 600 CZK in Myanmar Kyats (only cash is accepted). Half of this price is being charged for vital statistics documents - birth, marriage and death certificates - when registering vital events in the Czech Republic.

Please note that superlegalized documents are to be used as official documents in the Czech Republic and therefore must be also furnished with authenticated translation into Czech language (see above).
