A discussion in the Myanmar National Human Rights Commision

On 10 August 2020, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Myanmar, Mrs. Hana Mottlová, paid her initial visit to the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC). She was received by the MNHRC Chairman U Hla Myint, Vice Chair Dr. Nanda Hmun and two Commissioners, Dr. Tin Maung Than and former Ambassador Paw Lwin Sein.

Ambassador Mottlová presented the Czech Republic as a current member of the UN Human Rights Council and as a country that is deeply interested in the human rights situation in Myanmar and assists to Myanmar in this regard. The Czech Republic has been involved here through various training and supportive initiatives since 2008.

With regard to the current priorities and strategic goals of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, the Ambassador outlined possible ways for further bilateral cooperation, may it be raising awareness of human rights, international human rights legislation and expanding existing seminars to Myanmar universities.

The Czech Embassy in Yangon is committed to advancing Czech - Myanmar cooperation in the field of human rights. We firmly believe that thanks to Czech assistance and assistance of others future Myanmar lawyers and people involved in public life will become staunch and fearless supporters of human rights principles, norms and of all who may need their helping hand.
