Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic announce the call for applications for scholarships for young journalists. The fellowships will take place in January – July 2024. The deadline for applications is 1 June 2023.

On 1 May 2023, Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic announced a call for applications for journalistic scholarships for journalists from Eastern European countries, resp. Western Balkans. More information can be found here >>>

Václav Havel Journalism Fellowship (VHJF) is a scholarship program for young journalists from the Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine) or from Russia. The Jiří Dienstbier Journalism Fellowship (JDJF) is a similar program for young journalists coming from the Western Balkans countries.

The program’s goal is to support media pluralism and media independence in the respective journalists’ home countries, and in this way to also support democratic transformation and human rights in general.

The seven-month practically oriented fellowships include a training at the RFE/RL Prague headquarters, where the participants will gain additional professional skills and knowledge. The scholarship includes a monthly stipend and covers the costs for stay in the Czech Republic, housing, health insurance as well as travel to and from Prague.

The deadline for applications, which are to be submitted online in English, was set for 1 June 2023.

Candidates can find more information about the program, eligibility, application instructions as well as register their application directly on the RFE/RL website.
