5th Session of Czech-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation

The Deputy Minister for EU and international trade at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Mrs. Martina Tauberová, visited Armenia on October 13–15, 2021. Mrs. Tauberová held meetings with the Minister of Economy of Armenia Mr. Vahan Kerobyan, the Deputy Minister of Economy Mr. Varos Simonyan, the Deputy Minister of Health Mr. Gevorg Simonyan, and the Deputy Minister of High Tech Industry Mr. Davit Sahakyan. A medical business forum was held at the sidelines of the visit on October 14. The 5th session of the Czech-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation took place in Yerevan on October 15.

 

In Yerevan, the Czech Deputy Minister held meetings with the Minister of Economy of Armenia Mr. Vahan Kerobyan, the Deputy Minister of Economy Mr. Varos Simonyan, the Deputy Minister of Health Mr. Gevorg Simonyan, and the Deputy Minister of High Tech Industry Mr. Davit Sahakyan. Mrs. Tauberová promoted economic and business-to-business cooperation in a number of sectors, including healthcare and medical sector, IT and high tech.

The Czech Deputy Minister was accompanied by a sizable official delegation and a business mission. Together with Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Health and representatives of Czech and Armenian business associations, Mrs. Tauberová also opened a business forum on healthcare, medical and pharmaceutical industries. The forum took place on October 14 at the Armenia Marriott Hotel. It provided both Czech and Armenian businesses opportunities to find new partners for cooperation, present top level medical products and solutions, and to boost mutual economic relations.

On October 15, the 5th session of the Czech-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation took place in Yerevan. The Commission was co-chaired by Czech Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Mrs. Tauberová and Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Mr. Simonyan. Representatives of a number of ministries and government agencies from both Czechia and Armenia attended the expert sessions and jointly worked on the protocol. Ambassadors of both countries, Mr. Bedřich Kopecký and Mr. Ashot Hovakimian, also participated in the meetings and plenary session.

The final protocol identifies a number of directions and opportunities for strengthened cooperation. Among other aspects, it also allows to further promote Czech-Armenian economic cooperation and raise the volume of mutual trade.
