The Third Session of Czech–Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation took place

On September 12, the Third Session of Czech-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation took place in Yerevan.
The Co-Chairmen of the Czech-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation are the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Vladimír Bärtl from the Czech side and the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia Garegin Melkonyan from the Armenian side.

From the Czech side the session was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Nature Protection, as well as representatives of banking system, Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, Chamber of Trade and Industry, private sector companies and employees of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in RA.

From the Armenian side the session was attended by the representatives of the Office to the President of RA, Staff to the Government of RA, Ministry of Economic Development and Investments, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources, Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Nature Protection, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Defense, the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia (UMBA), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Armenia, as well as representatives of interested agencies.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Armenia Petr Mikyska and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Czech Republic Tigran Seiranian participated in the meeting.

During the session of the Intergovernmental Commission the prospects and opportunities of cooperation development in the fields of trade and economic, financial, energy, agriculture, healthcare, education and science, culture, standardization, transport, information technology, tourism, etc. have been discussed.

The protocol of the session has been signed, which defined the directions of further cooperation according to the spheres.

According to the Co-Chairman of the Czech-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation from the Czech side, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Vladimír Bärtl mentioned, “There is a good cooperation with Armenia. There are a lot of similarities between Armenia and the Czech Republic. In addition, Armenia can be viewed not only as an open country but also as a gate to Iran and Russia.”

The Co-Chairman of the Czech-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation from the Armenian side, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments of RA Garegin Melkonyan, a wide range of issues has been discussed during the meeting and arrangements on cooperation in different directions have been reached. “In general, this agenda will be a good prerequisite for the next year. A rather multisectoral agenda has been drafted focused on both private and intergovernmental cooperation.”

The Co-Chairmen stressed the importance of the steps taken to boost relations between the businessmen of two countries and noted that an Czech-Armenian regular business forum will be held in Yerevan in October, which is a good opportunity to bring business relations to a new level.
