Petr Pirunčík

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Armenia

Born on July 8, 1981.

Studied Slavic studies (focusing on Russian literature) and political science at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague and the University of New Orleans, USA.

Between 2007–2009, he worked as a Deputy Director of an American study-abroad program in Prague (USAC), as a translator and English teacher.

In 2009, he started working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic; after a year at the Diplomatic Academy and a posting at the Czech embassy in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, he worked as a desk officer at the Common Foreign and Security Policy Dept. of the Czech MFA.

Then he moved to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Moscow, political section (2010-2014).

Between 2014 and 2015, he was responsible for Visegrad cooperation at the Central European Dept. of the Czech MFA in Prague.

Since 2015 until 2022, he worked at the Foreign Affairs Department of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic, where he served as a Deputy Director.

For years, Mr Piruncik also lectured Czech and Central European history to American students at the Charles University in Prague.

He is fluent in English and Russian and is (slowly) learning Armenian.
