A family member of an EU citizen

A family member of an EU citizen means its (1) spouse, (2) the parent, in the case of EU citizens under 21 years of age, which nourishes and with whom he lives in the same household, (3) a child under 21 years of age or such child of a spouse of an EU citizen and (4) dependent direct relative in the ascending or descending line or such relative of the spouse of an EU citizen. Provided is a stay of the study, it is understood only a family member spouse or a dependent child.

A dependent person is considered alien nurtured by an EU citizen or his spouse, who is systematically preparing for a future career, or a foreigner who is not systematically prepare for a future career or perform gainful activity due to illness or injury, or because of long-term poor health condition are not able to pursue gainful activity.

The processing of an application for a Schengen visa presents a family member of an EU citizen:

1. passport whose validity will be longer than the validity of the visa by at least three months.

2. 1 color passport size photographs, 3.5 x 4.5 cm, in accordance with the terms of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

3. The form "Application for Schengen Visa" filled in the Latin alphabet.

4. The document confirming that you are a family member (birth certificate, marriage certificate) - original or certified copy.

5. Instruments confirming that you are going to travel together with the EU citizen or travel for this citizen, who has been in the Czech Republic resides (eg. Air ticket booking).

Submission of applications for short-term visas for family members of EU are not subject to prior registration via system Visapoint.

Applications for family members of a citizen of the Czech Republic / EU are handled within 3-4 days. Filing is free.

A family member of an EU citizen who is not an EU citizen can apply for a visa refused Ministry of Foreign Affairs on a new assessment of the reasons refuse a visa, and within 15 days of receipt of written information relevant embassy for visa refusal. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will examine the circumstances within 60 days from the date of receipt of the request. The answer is sent via the relevant embassy.

Applying for a Schengen visa at a border crossing:

A family member of an EU citizen who is not an EU citizen is entitled to apply for a visa for a stay up to 90 days at a border crossing. However, it must prove the grounds on which the visa requests just at the border crossing
