Basic Schengen Visa Information

Here you can find general information and instructions related to Schengen visa applications.

The following countries are members of the Schengen Agreement: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

A “Schengen visa” is required to visit one or more of these Member States. This visa is valid in all Schengen states for a stay of up to 90 days within a six-month period for a purpose of a visit, tourism or business, but not for employment or family reunification purposes.

Armenian nationals who are ordinary passport holders are required to apply for a visa to enter the Schengen area.

 Where to apply for a Schengen Visa

For a visit to one Schengen state, visa applications must be lodged at the Embassy/Consulate of that respective Member State. If the visit includes more than one destination, visa applications must be lodged at the Embassy/Consulate of the Member State whose territory constitutes the MAIN destination of the visit(s) in terms of purpose or the length of stay.

The visa processing fee is EUR 35, non-refundable. No other currencies are accepted.

From 1.1. 2021 Schengen visa fee EUR 35 will be collected only in cash when submitting the application at the Embassy in EUR, according to the current conversion rate for the month.

Children under 12 years of age are free of charge, below the age of twelve years shall pay a visa fee of EUR 35.

Types of Visa

Applications can be lodged earliest three months before the planned trip. .

Visas are not issued on the same day when the application is lodged and the legal period to issue visa is 7 days. In specific cases, when additional documentation is needed or when further scrutiny of the application is needed or in cases of representation where the authorities of the represented Member State are consulted the period for the decision may be extended up to a maximum of 30 calendar days.

Holders of Schengen visas are still subject to immigration control at the point of entry and are not guaranteed entry into any of the Schengen countries.

Once a visa application is approved, the following may be issued:

Uniform Visa

It is a valid visa for the entire territory of the Schengen states, with the purpose of transit or intended stay. A uniform visa may be issued for one, two or multiple entries.

Multiple-entry visas may be issued with a period of validity between six months and five years, where the following conditions are met:

(a)  The applicant proves the need or justifies the intention to travel frequently and/or regularly, in particular due to his occupational or family status, such as business persons, civil servants engaged in regular official contacts with Member States, and EU institutions, representatives of civil society organisations travelling for the purpose of educational training, seminars and conferences, family members of citizens of the Union, family members of third-country nationals legally residing in Member States and seafarers; and

(b)  The applicant proves his integrity and reliability, in particular the lawful use of previous uniform visas or visas with limited territorial validity, his economic situation in the country of origin and his genuine intention to leave the territory of the Member States before the expiry of the visa applied for.

Please read instructions first, then print out the form. Both application forms should be typed and signed at all appropriate places.

Please note: Processing of application forms is computerized. If not completed legibly and with accordance with other supportive documents (e.g. flying tiket, hotel reservation), you risk your visa will be issued with delay or the application will not be processed at all.

I. General instructions

a) The form must be completed in legible Roman capitals. Complete the boxes under individual headings from left to right.
b) Complete all sections with the exception of those for office use only.
c) If the data to be completed are not known to you, leave the boxes blank.
d) If the question offers more than one answer, mark the boxes which apply with a cross X.
e) The data should be completed in the place reserved for them.
f) Corrections in the form should be made by drawing a horizontal line through unwanted writing. Correct data should be completed in the remaining vacant boxes under the heading.

g) Applicant´s identification data must be completed as written in his/her travel document. Individual first names and surnames must be separated by an empty box.

h) Days, months and years should be completed without dots and hyphens - DDMMYYYY i.e. e.g. 25 May 1983 is 25051983.
i) To complete the address, write the country code-town-street-number.

j) Telephone and fax numbers are given including the country code separated from the number with hyphen, e.g. +374-12345678.
k) Questions marked * are not to be completed by family members of EU or EEA citizens (family relationship to EU or EEA citizen must be proved by relevant documents).
l) Where the application form refers to the Schengen States, or to the territory, law, authorities of the Schengen States, it refers to the Czech Republic, or to the territory, law, authorities of the Czech Republic.

II. Instructions on how to complete questions in the form for Visa over 90 days

No. of heading Instructions 1, 2, 3 complete according to your travel document.
4 Complete according to (h) above.
5 Complete if such number is indicated in your travel document.
6a Complete the place of birth as shown in your travel document.
6b, 7, 8 Complete country codes according to the Index of Country Codes.
9 Leave unmarked if you do not want to indicate your sex.
10 Complete your current marital status.
11 Give your father´s first name(s) and surname(s), separating individual first names and surnames by an empty box.
12 Give your mother´s first name(s) and surname(s), separating individual first names and surnames by an empty box.
13 Specify the type of travel document enclosed with the application.
14 Complete data as written in your travel document.
15 Complete the country code as shown in your travel document. If your travel document does not contain the country code, use the code indicated in the Index of Country Codes.
16, 17 Complete travel document data as written in your travel document according to (i) above.
18 If you have permission to return to the country of residence, give the number and validity of such permission according to (i) above.
19 Give your current occupation, e.g. "businessman".
20 Complete the name, address and telephone number of your employer or school (private of state-run company, office, school). Only complete if you are employed or studying. Address and telephone number should be completed according to (j) and (k) above.
21 Give the town of your main destination in the Czech Republic. If the character of your journey makes it impossible to specify the main destination in the Czech Republic, give the first town in the Czech Republic. In case of transit give the State of your final destination.
22 Specify the type of visa your apply for - airport transit, transit, short-term for a stay up to 90 days, long-term for a stay exceeding 90 days.
23 Always mark the box "Individual", the Czech Republic does not issue collective visas.
24 Give the requested number of entries in the territory of the Czech Republic.
25 Give the number of days of your requested stay in the territory of the Czech Republic, e.g. 9 days - 009.
26 Complete only the visas issued in the past three years by the Czech Republic or the Schengen States. Fill in the country code, hyphen, and the valid-until date. Leave a blank box between individual visas. (E.g. CZE-01082004 DEU-10122004).
27 If the answer is yes, complete the valid-until date according to (i) above, the issuing authority and the country code (in accordance with the Index of Country Codes) of the issuing state.
28 Complete only the latest stay in the Czech Republic, filling in the code CZE and the dates in accordance with (i) above.
29 Mark the purpose of your stay in the Czech Republic; if none of the boxes applies specify the purpose under the heading "Other".
30 Complete the planned date of arrival in the territory of the Czech Republic according to (i) above.
31 Complete the planned date of departure from the territory of the Czech Republic according to (i) above.
32 Give the name of the border crossing point of your first entry in the territory of the Czech Republic (e.g. Prague). In case of transit give also the name of the border crossing point of your departure from the territory of the Czech Republic.
33 Give the means of transport by which you will arrive in the territory of the Czech Republic (e.g. plane, train, passenger car).
34 Give the name of your host or hotel or your temporary address in the Czech Republic, fill in the address and telephone or fax numbers according to (j) and (k) above.
35 Mark the person/company paying your travelling, support and accommodation costs during your stay and specify how these costs will be paid (e.g. voucher, Letter of Invitation verified by the Aliens and Border Police, document proving that accommodation will be provided, air ticket etc.).
36 You may mark one or more boxes indicating means of support available to you during your stay.
37 to 42 Only complete this section if your spouse and/or children are travelling to the Czech Republic with you. They must be entered in the submitted joint travel document (spouse and children), the so-called family passport, or in your standard travel document (children). Complete the family name, family name at birth and first name according to (h) above and the dates of birth according to (i) above.
43 To be completed only by family members of EU, EEA or Swiss citizens according to (h), (i) above, the Index of Country Codes and (5) above. Indicate family relationship (e.g. daughter, spouse etc.).
45 Give your home address according to (i) above.
46 Give your telephone number according to (j) above.
47 Give the place (town) where your sign your visa application. For children under 15 years of age, the application is signed by their guardian (as a rule their parent).
