Visa Code (short term visa C type)

ATTENTION - Embassy of the Czech Republic in Yerevan notes that issueded Schengen visas have to be used to travel to the Czech Republic as the main destination, not as a mere transit country. Any change of documents, hotel reservations and airtickets have to be promptly reported to the Embassy which issued the visa. If the Schengen visa is abused only to transit through the Czech Republic, the applicant will be denied entry into the schengen country and will be returned back to his home country.

Visa Code (Regulation (EC) No. 810/2009) represents a new legal act regulating and harmonising the short-term visa procedure in the Consulates of countries of Schengen zone (including the Czech Republic). Visa Code comes in force on 5th April, 2010.

Visa Code contains the following regulations:

1/ The visa application shall be submitted to the Czech Consulate in Yerevan only by the applicants legally residing in the Republic of Armenia (Art. 6). Other applicants have to provide a sufficient justification for submitting their application in the Czech Consulate in Yerevan; the decision about accepting such an application is made solely by the Consulate.

2/ The visa application could be submitted no more than three months before the start of the intended visit (Art. 9).

3/ In general, the personal presence of the applicant is necessary (Art. 10).

4/ Travel document shall have been issued within the previous 10 years, it shall contain at least two blank pages and its validity shall extend at least three months after the intended date of departure from the Schengen zone (Art. 12).

5/ Application shall be decided on by the Consulate within 15 calendar days; the period may be extended up to a maximum of 30 days (Art. 23).

6/ The period of validity of the visa – if granted - shall include an additional „period of grace“ of 15 days (Art. 23); the travel medical insurance must be arranged correspondingly.

Example: Visa is applied for the period 1.7.2010 - 10.7.2010, i.e. for 10 days. The insurance should be arranged for 10 days within the period 1. 7. 2010 – 25. 7. 2010 (10 days intended + 15 days – „period of grace“). The visa will be issued accordingly, i. e. for 10 days within the period 1. 7. 2010 – 25. 7. 2010.

7/ The stamp made by the Consulate to the applicant’s travel document (indicating the acceptance of the visa application) has no legal implication.

8/ The negative decision on application (including the basic reason for the decision) is notified to each applicant by the document called „Refusal/Annulment/Revocation of visa“.
